In collaboration with the Restorative Justice Centre (RJC) training was given to Just Detention International South Africa to expand their understanding on gender issues and intimate partner violence (IPV) dynamics.
Centre for Mediation in Africa Training
In collaboration with the RJC training was given to the Centre for Mediation in Africa (University of Pretoria) on structural violence, and how this relates to IPV, commonly referred to as gender-based violence. Structural violence can be defined as any mechanism that stunts personal growth and deprives an individual of the means to sustain their fundamental needs. Structural violence includes sociopolitical factors such as racism and inequality, as well as socioeconomic factors such as violent communities, disadvantaged neighbourhoods, poverty and unemployment.
